WENTWORTH PGA GOLF 2014

BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIPS

WENTWORTH 20th & 21st MAY 2014

This is an excellent opportunity to try your hand at photographing some of the best golfers in the world at the BMW PGA Championship on the fabulous Wentworth golf course in Surrey. The PGA Championship is the most prestigious event on the European Tour and therefore attracts a huge number of the top players in the world. The field last year included amongst others the world number one Luke Donald, Rory Mcilroy, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Ernie Els.

The West Course at Wentworth is a beautiful setting and great for pictures, offering photographers limitless vantage points to get those great shots, both close up tee shots as well as great opportunities around the greens. I have photographed this event for over twenty years and will use this wealth of experience to get you into the right positions and best vantage points to shoot the great images youre after. I have now photographed five Ryder Cups and many more Open Championships. This is a full-on day of photography, starting at around 8am on the course and finishing late in the afternoon.

Once again this course is going to be run with the assistance of Matthew Harris, one of the most experienced and talented golf photographers in world golf. For instance he has photographed every major that Tiger Woods has ever played in. Matthews website can be viewed here. Matts knowledge of the Wentworth course is extraordinary.

I have twice won Sports Photographer Of The Year and was recently named the BA Olympics Photographer Of The Year 2012 . You can see my award winning pictures at www.markpain.com.

There are two days to choose from, Tuesday 20th May which is the official practice day or Wednesday 21st May which is the Pro Celebrity day where the Pro golfers team up with other stars from the entertainment and sporting world. These days are far more relaxed photographically than the actual competition days, allowing us more scope to get into the exact positions we need to be in to get the best shots. However the official practice day offers photographers the chance to shoot the top golfers when they are in the zone.

Each day costs 295 and includes on course parking. Numbers are strictly limited to allow myself and Matthew to give as much one to one tuition as possible. The bookings for this course are being taken by the Nikon School and they can be made here. The course however is open to users of all camera systems and is not Nikon specific.
